Master of Social Work Concentration

How the program works

In addition to the core MSW degree curriculum, you will take three concentration courses over the course of the program, and you will complete a specialized advanced field placement during the final year of this three-year program. Your concentration year field placement will be in a law and policy-focused setting.

Introduction to the Study of Law and Legal Systems

国产偷拍视频In this foundational course, you will be introduced to the sources and functions of law in our society. You’ll examine the structure and traditions of the American court system, learn to read and analyze cases and statutes, and develop basic legal written and oral presentation skills.

Introduction to Children’s Law and Policy

This course is designed to give you an introductory overview of the law as it affects children. You will discuss the constitutional relationship among children, parents and the state, as well as the respective roles of federal and state governments in the regulation of children and families.

Child Welfare Law and Policy

In this course, you will focus on federal and state legal and policy efforts to protect children from abuse, neglect, and other forms of maltreatment. Topics include mandatory reporting laws, liability issues, and the general structure and content of child protection laws.
