You will complete this program in two years, one course at a time. On-campus courses are offered in the evenings. If you prefer the convenience and flexibility of online learning, several Infant Specialist program courses are available online for academic or professional development credit.

The Infant/Toddler Growth and Development course is designed to introduce students to in-depth knowledge of infant development, including developmental patterns of infants at risk. The knowledge includes an understanding of the basic developmental processes in the domains of cognitive, social/emotional, communication, and sensory and motor development.

国产偷拍视频This course is designed to promote an empathic understanding of parenting and family life from pregnancy through the first three years of life. Using family systems and attachment theory as organizing frameworks, the course explores the structure and function of families, psychological processes of parenting, and the development of the parent/infant/family relationship within the context of culture and community.

This course takes a relationship-based developmental approach to observation, screening, and assessment of children from birth through age three. Assessment is viewed as an integral part of the intervention process and as a collaboration between parents and providers.
You are well-suited for this program if you are working with infants and families or if you seek a career move into the infant and family field.
Which concentration is right for me?
You will choose from one of two concentrations. Each concentration requires a two-semester internship, which in some cases can be completed at your current job and involves directed field experience, supported with individual supervision. You will also participate in an integrative seminar in which you will learn to reflect on your work and think critically about your professional challenges and successes with your peers and a faculty mentor.
In this concentration you will complete a two semester, 10-hour-a-week internship. If you are currently working in an infant/toddler setting, you can complete the internship requirements at your place of employment (with support and approval from your supervisor). 国产偷拍视频In this concentration, you can work toward meeting the requirements for credentialing as an early intervention specialist in developmental therapy in the State of Illinois. For this certificate, you will meet the requirements for the prevention/early intervention specialization at Erikson, as well as complete an internship under a developmental therapist in Part C Early Intervention services.
